Best Air Purifier of 2024 - CNET

Image
In order to help inform our air purifier picks, we gathered 14 of the most popular models out there at the CNET Labs product testing facility in Louisville, Kentucky, where we put them through the same rigorous set of tests. Working with trusty lab associate Eric Snyder, our goal was to determine which air purifiers offered the best performance in terms of particle removal efficiency, energy consumption and quietness, while also evaluating their respective feature sets and value. Tag along as we unveil the science behind our thought process. Gianmarco Chumbe/CNET The particle-removal test As you may already know, the air we breathe isn't just air. If you were to walk outside in the middle of the night and turn on a flashlight, you'd bear witness to a universe of tiny fragments floating around and being carried by the wind. But what is that stuff, anyway? In truth, it's a combination of anthropogenic (human-generated) and naturally occurring particles. The former is compos...

Image
Whether you're worried about the quality of your water source or you're using one as a precaution, installing a whole house water filter helps make consuming water worry-free.  "Whole house water filters are specifically designed to clean and purify all the water that flows into your home, which covers everything from drinking water to general household use," says Rachel Kourey, pumps and water treatment merchant for The Home Depot.  Whole house water filters are a great choice for those who want to be sure that their water supply remains free of bacteria, sediment, viruses, heavy metals, or even chemicals. City water is supplied by your local municipality and is typically treated with chlorine before it reaches you, which can leave behind a taste or leave your hair and s...

Image
This interesting looking thing is an air purifier by AUGIENB, a Hong Kong company that specializes in "home machine solutions". They basically make home appliances like air or water filters, lights, humidifiers and other similar products. They seem to have quite a good present around Southeast Asia, hence seem to be a trustworthy company. We managed to purchase our unit at half price during a lazada sale, so I guess why not, right? It's quite a deal if you ask me, slashing the unit price from RM440 to RM199 ! So, the question is, does paying less than RM200 for a air purifier equipped with a HEPA filter make sense? And is it worth the money? Or have we been taken for a ride? Let's jump right in. Overview The unit we got the is the AUGIENB HEPA Air Purifier. The unit resembles an inverted bucket. Most of the casing is just plain white plastic and it looks and feels quite thin. The good thing is that it's really lightweight, but it definitely does not inspire ...
